UK Government Scholarships

Chevening ScholarshipsThe Chevening UK Scholarships is the flagship scholarship scheme of the British Government. Every year,  1000 scholarships are given to exceptional international students who wants undertake postgraduate study at UK Universities.

Commonwealth ScholarshipsThe Commonwealth Scholarships are targeted to students from developing Commonwealth countries who wants to pursue Master’s, PhD, and split-site (PhD) study in the UK. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship SchemeThe Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (with funding from DFID), and UK universities, to support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who wants to pursue postgraduate studies at UK Universities towards the development of their home countries.

1)    We need at least three first divisions or A grades in your last examinations/ degrees.

2)    You should have at least an IELTS equivalence of 6.5 or more in your English language proficiency (This may be exempted for students having studied in a English speaking country such as USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc.)

3)    You should have not been rejected by any of the major countries on student visas such as UK, Australia, America.

4)    You should have all your degrees and certificates in original with you at the time of application.

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is a bi-national commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, with the Chair alternating between a Pakistani and an American. USEFP is one of 51 'Fulbright Commissions' located throughout the world.

The Community College Initiative Program is designed to support Pakistani young professionals at accredited U.S. community colleges for one year of non-degree study. Programs are being offered in the following fields: Agriculture, Applied Engineering, Business Management and Administration, Media, Tourism and Hospitality Management and Early Childhood Education.

The applicants must be resident in Pakistan, currently employed in one of the fields listed above, have 14-15 years of education (2-year Bachelors), English language proficiency, potential to have a positive impact on Pakistan's future development and demonstrated leadership. Participants spend one academic year in the United States and earn certificates in their fields of study. After completing the program, participants return home with new skills and expertise to help them contribute to the economic growth and development of Pakistan.

Cycle

•     Tentative Announcement: in the month of September
•     Duration: one academic year 9 - 12 months
•     Grantees start studies: Fall next year

Application Procedure
All applicants seeking admission for the first time at Imperial College will be required to follow standard admission procedure:

Pakistani Students 
a. Submission of properly filled out application form with supporting documents and reference letters (at least one by an academic referee).

b. Three thumb size photographs.

c. Payment of application processing fee is taken in cash however cheques will also be accepted.

d. Taking Imperial College Entrance Examination and personal interview.

e. Financial aid form (if required).

f. Course exemption form (if required).

International Students
Same procedure as above is to be followed except section “C”.

Imperial Graduates 
ICBS Undergraduates seeking admission are not required to appear for the admission test. Students with CGPA of 2.5 or above are also not required to appear for the interview. However, students with less than 2.5 CGPA are required to appear.

Admission on Provisional Basis
A student may be admitted on provisional basis to a degree program for one term, for example where the final result of the previous program/degree is awaited. However, the conditionality of the provisional admission must be cleared before the student can join the classes of the second term.

Admission with Advanced Placement/Standing
At the time of admission students who may have done similar course work and earned grades elsewhere (in other recognized institutions local or abroad) can apply for exemption. Local Institute previously attended has to be chartered by the Govt. Such cases will be examined individually to see the relevance of the courses and the level of grades obtained.

Early Admissions
In case of admissions where applicants have requested an early/individual processing of application, a partial admission fee of Rs.3000/- is to be submitted at the time of processing (refundable in full if they are refused admission).

In case they are accepted for admission, the advance payment of Rs.3000/- is adjusted towards payment of College dues. The fee is non-refundable in all other cases.

SCHOLARSHIP AND FINANCIAL AID

The College makes all efforts to ensure that merited students are not denied opportunity to join the program purely due to financial considerations. Liberal financial aid package is available to academically outstanding students. Partial scholarships are also available to the kin of armed forces and civil servants. 

Typically, the financial aid is given in the form of tuition fee waivers that result in reduction in program fee ranging from 20% to 100%. Financial aid is also available for women and minorities. Overall, nearly 30 percent of the student body enrolled is recipient of some form of financial aid.

Financial Aid/Scholarship awards are made after careful consideration of a candidate’s academic performance. The individual’s involvement in various co-and extra-curricular activities, leadership potential demonstrated through initiative seeking, and ability to make a positive contribution to the overall campus environment are also major decision factors in making financial awards.
